Product Details

Product Information

The chemical formula of Phthalide CAS NO. 87-41-2 is C8H6O2. The molecular weight is 134, and it is used in organic synthesis as an intermediate of fine chemicals. It is used in the production of dye intermediates 1,4-dichloroanthraquinone, 1-chloroanthraquinone, anticoagulant phenylindandione, bactericide tetrachlorophthalide, anxiolytic drug doxetidine, and can also be used for design Scaffolds for highly potent monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors.

Features

The melting point of Phthalide CAS NO. 87-41-2 is 70-73°C. Boiling point is 290°C. Flash point is 152°C. It is needle-like or flake-like crystals and is soluble in alcohol, ether and hot water, and very slightly soluble in cold water.

Resolve Resolution

In a reaction flask equipped with a stirrer, a reflux condenser and a thermometer, 130 mL of water and 160 mL of concentrated sulfuric acid were added. Heat to 145-150°C with stirring. Slowly add o-cyanobenzyl chloride (2) 153g (1mol) hydrogen chloride escapes in the reaction. After the addition, the reaction was carried out at 160 °C for 2 h. After a little cooling, it was poured into a beaker, cooled naturally, and a solid was precipitated. Suction filtration, fully soak in water to remove inorganic salts, then suction filtration, wash with water, and dry to obtain 120 g of phthalide (1). Recrystallization from ethanol gave 83 g of pure product (1), mp 73~75℃. The yield rate is 71%.
