A solution of 4-chloro-3-fluorobenzoic acid (2.0 g, 11.46 mmol) in THF (25 ml) was added to a solution of LDA (13.18 ml, 26.4 mmol) in THF (50 ml) via a syringe pump at -78°C for 30 min. Subsequently, it was stirred at -78°C for 3 h. Then, a solution of THF (25 ml) of 1,2-dibromotetrachloroethane (7.5 g, 23 mmol) was added. The reaction was carried out at -78°C for 30 min. The reaction mixture was quenched with water and extracted with Et2O. The aqueous phase was neutralized with a dioxane solution of 4NHCl (45.8 ml, 45.8 mmol) and extracted with EtOAc.
