Overview

4-Bromo-2,6-difluorobenzoic Acid CAS NO. 183065-68-1 is a chemical with the chemical formula C7H3BrF2O2. appearance is off-white crystalline powder. The melting point is 201-203°C, boiling point is 271.7±40.0 °C (Predicted), density is 1.872±0.06 g/cm3 (Predicted). 4-Bromo-2,6-difluorobenzoic Acid CAS NO. 183065-68-1 is commonly used as an intermediate for synthetic materials and fine chemicals.

A solution of 1,4-dibromo-2,5-difluorobenzene (640 mg, 2.35 mmol) in anhydrous ethyl ether (10 mL) cooled in a dry ice - acetone bath was treated dropwise with 2.5 M n-butyllithium/hexane (1.04 mL, 2.59 mmol). The solution was stirred at -78 °C for 30 min and then treated with a piece of dry ice. 5 min later the cooling bath was removed and the mixture was stirred for another 30 min while warming to room temperature. The mixture was washed with EtOAc and water. The organic phase was separated and washed twice with saturated aqueous NaHCO3. The combined organic phases were acidified with 1MHCl aqueous solution and extracted twice with DCM. The combined organic phases were dried and concentrated to give 4-bromo-2,5-difluorobenzoic acid as a white solid (297 mg, 53% yield).
